Dlish Scraps April Just Add Paper kit

This month at Dlish Scraps there is a lovely mood board with some wonderful colours. I was so glad I have a Just Add Paper kit subscription as the kit matches the moodboard.

The mood board is below:

My layout was inspired by the colours and softness of the images.

I used almost everything from the Just Add Paper kit and added a sweet little deer from a previous kit. I coloured the wood veneer with a  silver Sharpie and added Glossy Accents.
I loved how these colours are soft and allow my subject matter to be the centre of attention in this layout. If only to show my children how special their bond is when they are much older.

Thank you for looking.  :)

Show Us Your Stuff Challenge April 2016

Hi There!

I loved the Show Us Your Stuff's challenge this month with Get Creative With Stamps. I had a glorious time getting grubby to create a unique background for my layout "Boys will be Boys"

I used Kaisercraft and Heidi Swapp Stamps with Distress Inks and Mist Sprays.
I also added a Charms Creations Heavenly Heart and a DIY Chevron sprayed in Navy.
Kaisercraft's Off the Wall Collection.
I'm still hoarding a lot of A Piece of Cake Design flairs but managed to add one to this layout of my son wrangling a crocodile at Australia Zoo in 2006.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Scrap the Girls April 2016

I'm starting to get a little better at this blogging thing :)

So I'd like to share my take on the wonderful Scrap the Girls April Mood Board.

This mood board is full of soft pastel colours and a beautiful quote that I found easy to work with. I even tried some soft stenciling using a new Scrapmatts stencil and inks and mists with the colour selection.

My layout is below.

I found a lovely quiet photo of Miss Bug that I took before Christmas in a rare quiet moment for her. I couldn't resist adding the glasses frame to match the 'You are Fabulous' Flair, I can't believe how well they fit the photo and almost looked real.

As usual there is lots of D-lish Scraps goodies on my page:

Elise Flowers that I have had since my very first Just Add Paper kit 2 years ago, a resin heart, Spotty Bow, Pick and Place Bow, the flair came from another kit as well, a small rose, spotty paper bags, Enamel Frame, pink doily, 'Love this' tag and if you look really closely there are a few tiny little sequin hearts scattered around the clusters.

I added a Charms Creations Pink Chevron and a Studio Calico wood veneer heart.
The inks and mists I used were Spun Sugar Distress Stain, Smooch Mist in Sea Kisses and Pewter Pearl Drops mixed with a little water.

I usually don't use pastels when it comes to scrapping my daughter as she is not usually very soft or gentle, but I think this photo suited them well.

Thanks for looking at my Scrap the Girls April 2016 Mood Board entry.

Charms Creations April 2016 ScrapLift a Layout

Charms has set a great challenge this month to Scrap Lift a Layout Inspired by one of the Creative Team.

I found this such a hard challenge because there were so many terrific layouts by the creative team to choose from. I started with one of Belinda's pages

But I couldn't find a photo that did her page justice.

But another talented team member's page was calling out to me to be scrap lifted.
How could I not lift this gorgeous creation,

I did need to change the colour scheme a little to suit my subject though.

I thought it would be a good excuse to go through my paper scraps and use some of up before the pile got to big. ( I am on a use as much of my stash as possible without buying new stuff  mission).

Of course I reach for my stash of lovely Charms Creations Embellishments first. I just knew the X&O had to go on the page as the newborn Mr E is holding is a girl. Then I discovered crocheted doilies and some wood veneer from previous mixed kits. Luckily I had one lonely Tab hiding in my stash that I could colour using my Sharpie pen.

I added a Rainbow Spendour Bow and a few little wood sequins as well.
Finally I added A Piece of Cake Designs 'Capture' Flair.

I really enjoyed copying one of the  masters of creation, and I look forward to scrap lifting another team member's page again soon.

White with 1 - Jester Red

This month I thought I'd challenge myself to do some scrap booking challenges from a couple of different places.
One of these is the fabulous White with 1 Challenge

This month their colour was Jester Red, a Burgundy type of Red.
So here's my page

I love this picture of my eldest when he was 7 years old and the Dr Suess quote really was something I said to him almost daily at that age.

I busted some of my Dlish Scraps stash using their doiley, sequin bow, Journal It circle spot, heart brad and sequins;
I also love my rather large stash of Charms Creations embellishments, this time using a mini runner I altered with a flair from A Piece of Cake Designs and a Super Star;
and some red chevron washi tape.

Scrapping Outback's April "White with a Twist" challenge

Scrapping Outback challenged us to use all the colours seen in the image below .
A Creamy Orange/Tangerine, White and a touch of Grey.
I also had to use some chipboard on my page as a requirement.

This is my take on Scrapping Outback's Colour challenge

I really enjoyed the challenge of playing with some colours I wouldn't normally reach for and using some of my small collection of chipboard.

Products used were
Dlish Scraps - Enamel Frames, Doily, Spotty Bow, 'Play' Flair, 'Fun' and 'Camera' paperclips, various tagsand odd flowers;
Charms Creations - Heavenly Heart, and Mango Super Star;
A Piece of Cake Designs Flair;
A2Z Scraplets Banner Chipboard;
Scrapmatts Triple Circle Chipboard.

Thanks for dropping by.

123 Challenge Blog April 2016

This month over at the 123 Challenge Blog we were required to create a layout using the image below.

We were tasked to use the colour white only, the word 'Peaceful' and Technique - Flowers.

In my page " Hello, life is never peaceful with you two" I did just that:

My page included lots of white flowers from my old stash of flowers, muslin, glassine bag, die cut shapes (heart and flower) that I picked up at one of the craft shows I visited and thought they'd make really good Project Life embellishments.
I used my Friskas Boarder punch to create the flower die cut hiding behind the glassine bag,
Dlish Scraps Sequined Bow and loopy flower (under flair),
Charms Creations Heavenly Heart,
and some A Piece of Cake Designs stash I'm trying hard not to hoard - Camera Flair, and Hello Frame.

I loved the challenge of just sticking to the one colour, especially white.

Thanks for dropping by.

Dlish Scraps March Cyber Challenge

Dlish Scraps have a monthly Cyber Challenge over at The Scarp Suite, where members of the creative team set 4 challenges each month to do. These challenges are lots of fun and vary greatly so there is always something new to try.

The March Challenges are as follows
Challenge #1 by Amanda

Loved this challenge as it took me out of my comfort zone and had me looking at adding hand stitching and hand journaling. I find it hard to include lots of journaling on my pages so this really pushed me.

So here it is

I love this page because it's soft and shows my two children meeting their newborn cousin, it was such a new experience for them both to hold a brand new baby.

I hand stitched the 2 arrows, added a Charms Creations Fab Flower as my handmade flower and journaled a lot more than I normally would have if not required too.
Dlish Scraps Products used were Wordfetti  and a Flair.

Challenge #2 by Sandra

I found Sandra's challenge the hardest as I usually clean up as I go while scrapping as I use my kitchen table as my scrap space, I need to swap from scrapping to kitchen table quickly so I don't leave much mess behind after each page is created.

I recycled a background page from a previous page that didn't make me happy, The die cut frame around the photo was flipped over and given a spray of mist to make the photo pop and I upcycled the sequins to stick on the Alphas.
Sandra also challenge us to include at least 1 button on our page, so I added the pirate ship and the treasure chest.
My first attempt at altering some Charms Creations Calico XO's didn't go as planned but they still turned out ok. More practice needed I think.

Challenge #3 by Michelle

I loved going back through The Scrap Suite's Design Team's albums and finding inspiration. The one that caught my eye the most was actually created by Michelle herself here;

And this is how I was inspired by her original layout.

I used Dlish Scraps Journal tags, Itty Bitty Blooms and a Sequin Bow.

And lastly Challenge #4 by Sonia
to be inspired by the colours of the below image.

I was inspired by the pinks, blues, greens and a touch of yellow to create my page.

My daughter helping me to make her own birthday cake for her 7th birthday, she truly is One of a Kind.
I inked the edges of my boarder page to match the colours of the image and then added embellishments. I also added some extra stamped images to the page.
Dlish flairs, Journal It Spot, resin flowers and leaves, heather sprig, small roses and another pink flower from an older Just Add Paper Kit.

Thank you to Amanda and her Amazing Team at Dlish Scraps for a fun and inspirational Cyber Crop, I look forward to be challenged next month in the April Cyber Crop.

Thank you for stopping by.
